Taco Tuesday is always a hit in our home. But when we look at all the different choices and flavor combinations that can be created with several different Mexican and southwest flavors, I think any night of the week is good for tacos, or better yet, their big brother, Fajitas. Tuesdays can be blah, but Fridays are awesome. Here we go with Fajita Fridays.

Fajitas are great, especially if you are trying to cut down on carbs. My husband does not get excited about a taco salad. He is never a fan of a burrito bowl. But when I mention we are having steak fajitas, he just focuses on the word steak. He is a carnivore through and through(I have a few kids that take after him). The great news is that my fajita seasoning is good on all of it. Steak, chicken, veggies, or whatever kind of fajitas you are planning.
How to Make Keto Fajita Seasoning
Making this steak fajita seasoning recipe at home is as simple as stirring together the right amount and combination of spices.
My fajita seasoning mix uses cayenne pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, salt, crushed red pepper, and smoked paprika. Unlike store-bought fajita seasonings, it doesn't have any fillers or additives.
The smoked paprika is my secret ingredient to really boost the flavor in this keto fajita seasoning!
Expert Tip: My recommendation is to prep all the veggies, guac, cheese, queso, cauliflower rice, cilantro, or anything you are going to top your fajita with, prior to grilling the meat. If you are grilling your veggies to accompany the fajita, grill them first, it is easy to keep them hot while you cook the meat.
We have all been in the restaurant and we hear that sizzle, the cast iron fajita plate being brought out to an exciting diner. It is so important to serve your fajitas sizzling hot.
How to Serve Keto Fajitas
I mentioned that my husband is not a fan of taco salads and such. But wrapping a lettuce leaf around a hot piece of steak is something he will do anytime. Iceberg lettuce has a wide leaf is great for loading up with fajita fixings. It is also thick and rigid enough to not wilt immediately as you put hot items into it.
This versatile spice blend is delicious on all of the following fajita options:
- Veggie Fajitas - Grill, bake or saute a combination of sweet onions, bell peppers, yellow squash, and zucchini for an amazing vegetarian fajita.
- Chicken Fajitas - These are my personal fave. I use this spice blend on my Baked Chicken Fajitas and in my Chicken Fajita Casserole all the time. And for a fancier presentation try my Fajita Stuffed Chicken.
- Pork Fajitas - Pork is a nice change from standard fajita fare - our favorite Mexican restaurant makes the best pork fajitas! Make sure to use dark meat pork instead of pork loin.
- Shrimp Fajitas - Using shrimp in fajitas is a great choice for a lighter meal! Definitely use less seasoning than you would on any of the meats.
What is the difference between a fajita spice mix and taco seasoning?
Taco seasoning normally has a higher percentage of chili powder as well as oregano.
How should I store keto fajita seasoning?
Store the homemade fajita seasoning in an airtight container. As long as your spices are fresh this will keep for six months to a year.
