Before we start, as always, I’m going to tell you how many calories are there in my homemade vanilla honey iced latte.

By having a cup made with whole milk you will consume 195 kcal.

Now that we have that out of our way, let’s proceed with the recipe.

Ingredients

Iced Honey Vanilla Latte: Cool Coffee Recipe (3)

  • Ice Cubes.
  • Espresso shot. I add a double espresso shot (about 2 fl oz, 60 ml) to my Honey Vanilla Iced coffee. Of course, a single shot (30 ml, 1 fl oz) is all you’re going to need in case you don’t want to make the stronger cup I’m aiming for.

If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can have the shot substituted with 2 to 2.5 fl oz (60 to 75 ml) of coffee made in a (preferably) Moka pot, or an Aeropress. You can also use cold brew concentrate or French press coffee.

If you have none of the aforementioned devices, as a last resort you can use instant coffee dissolved in 1 to 2 fl oz (30 to 60 ml) of water and add it to your Honey Vanilla Latte.

Of course, the taste will be quite different than the original, but you should try it out to see whether you like it.

Many people do. They also love the fact that they get to have a latte-looking drink at home without owning an espresso machine.
  • Honey. You need 1 tablespoon of raw honey per cup, which is around 0.7 oz (20 grams).
  • Vanilla Syrup. 1 tablespoon of Vanilla syrup is the amount you’re going to need.

I use Monin’s Vanilla Syrup and I’m pretty happy with its taste when added to lattes. You can check it out on Amazon here, if you’re interested.

It’s worth noting that you can substitute the vanilla syrup with a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.

  • Lukewarm Milk. You should have 4 fl oz (120 ml) of milk. That’s the amount I use for most of my iced lattes.

No matter whether you use plant-based or whole milk, make sure you warm it up a bit before you start making your drink. This way the honey and vanilla will dissolve evenly, resulting in a well-balanced and satisfying overall taste.

But don’t heat up your milk too much as this might have a negative effect on your honey’s healthy compounds. Especially if you use raw one as I do.

How to Make an Iced Honey Vanilla Latte?

There are actually two ways to make this iced coffee drink at home. They result in two Honey Vanilla Iced Lattes that taste exactly the same, but their looks are quite different.

I will show you both and you will see which one you like better.

Here are the Iced Honey Vanilla Latte recipe instructions:

  1. Add your Honey and Vanilla syrup to 4 fl. oz. (120 ml) of lukewarm milk
  2. Stir with a spoon to have the honey and vanilla well dissolved and evenly distributed throughout the milk.

  4. Pour the milk over ice cubes in a glass.
  5. Pour the coffee on top.

By following these instructions you will get an Iced Honey Vanilla latte looking like this one:

On the other hand, if you first pour the espresso over the ice, and then add the milk on top, your iced latte will look like that:

In my opinion, the former way of making the Vanilla Honey Iced Latte results in a cooler-looking drink.

Nevertheless, you will have to stir it with your straw to have the milk and espresso mixed well.

If you first add the coffee, and then the milk on top, your drink would’ve already been mixed well enough. So you can immediately take a sip. And, to be fair, the iced latte would still look pretty good.

Anyway, you can also add a bit of cinnamon to your cold Vanilla Honey Latte as it goes pretty well with all the other ingredients.

Cook Time1 minute

Total Time4 minutes

Ingredients

  • Double espresso shot (around 2 fl. oz., 60 ml.) *(see notes)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey*
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla syrup
  • 4 fl. oz. (120 milliliters) of Lukewarm milk*
  • Ice Cubes

Instructions

  1. Add the honey and vanilla syrup to the lukewarm milk.
  2. Stir with a spoon to have the sweeteners well dissolved.
  3. Pour the sweetened milk in a glass over ice cubes.
  4. Add the espresso on top.*

Notes

*If you don't have an espresso machine, I recommend using strongly brewed coffee. The best alternative to espresso in a homemade latte is the Moka pot brew. Nevertheless, you can also use cold brew concentrate, or strong Aeropress, or French press coffee.

*Preheat the milk a bit in advance before adding the honey into it. This way you'll make sure that it will dissolve well and that its flavors will be evenly distributed throughout your drink. To lower the calorie count of your drink, use unsweetened almond or unsweetened coconut milk instead of whole milk. Using nonfat milk is also an option.

*I prefer using raw honey, as it's generally considered a more beneficial alternative to pasteurized honey.

*By adding the espresso on top of the milk, your homemade iced latte will have a cool layered look.
